Up4 Hackcaton

Last week, from October 20 to 22, 2023, the Up4 Hackathon took place online and at the Student Recreation Center facilities. Students from the four Polytechnic Universities (Madrid, Catalonia, Valencia, and Cartagena) came together in a multidisciplinary event to propose solutions in the field of Safe, Sustainable, and Connected Mobility.

This event, aligned with the strategic plan of the Ministry of Transportation, Mobility, and Urban Agenda (MITMA) in the area of Intelligent Mobility Axis 5, offered three challenges related to smart and secure mobility. With only 60 available slots, participants also had the opportunity to gain knowledge in mobility, programming, data management, idea development, and marketing, with the chance to win a total of €6,000 in prizes sponsored by MITMA. The winners will be presented at the international congress, Global Mobility Call 2023.

The Challenge VDS2023

On October 18th, at the Ximo Mora Room of the Student Recreation Center, THE CHALLENGE was held as part of the Valencia Digital Summit VDS2023. Participants of all ages, including students and professionals, came together to tackle challenging innovation challenges presented by entities such as HP, the Valencia City Council, and UPV. In addition to the opportunity to learn innovative methodologies and develop new uses for technology, participants competed for prizes of up to €5,000.

Exhibition ACNUR

Starting this week and until October 31st, you can visit the interactive exhibition SOMOS ACTIVISMO, organized by UNHCR. It is located in the Student Recreation Center hall, where you will find various exhibitions and activities aimed at raising awareness and delving deeper into the issues of forced displacement and refugees.

You can explore:

  • Information about UNHCR’s initiatives in universities.
  • Micro-workshops and activities in collaboration with LA COLECTIVA of Refugee, Exiled, and Migrant Women.
  • Virtual Reality goggles for experiencing the life of a refugee.
  • Portraits of “Refugee Activists.”
  • A space to leave messages in support of inclusion.
  • “I am you, you are me”: an interactive journey on forced displacement.

SOMOS ACTIVISMO serves as a place for engagement and dialogue, offering a diverse program and various resources. Don’t hesitate to pay it a visit.

 

Bio&Urbe Photographic Exhibition

It is now possible to visit the new “Bio&Urbe” exhibition. An exhibition with different photographs of the birds that inhabit the urban environment. In it, you will be able to discover part of the fauna that surrounds us and lives with us in the city.

Furthermore, on October 10th at 5:30 PM, there will be an informative talk on “Urban Biodiversity” in which this topic will be discussed in more detail.

The photographic exhibition is located in the Ximo Mora room of the Student Recreation Center. Likewise, the talk will take place in degree room 1 in the same building.

Konngol Rewbe art exhibition

Today, the exhibition of the AIDA NGO was inaugurated, presenting the Konngol Rewbe art exhibition created from a photo exhibition of women from the rural world of Kolda, in southern Senegal.

A group of artists have reinterpreted these images of women and created works of art to share their message with other women around the world, thus fostering a network of mutual support in the fight for a more just and egalitarian world.

The exhibition is located in the lobby of the first floor of the Student House, and can be visited until October 2, at the opening hours of the building.
