Clothing Exchange

Yesterday, an clothing exchange event was held on the ground floor of the Student Recreation Center, organized by Mou-te, a Spontaneous Generation group dedicated to raising awareness and sensitizing the university community about sustainability by organizing various workshops and activities.

The purpose of this clothing exchange was to reduce the significant impact that the fashion industry has on our planet and to propose an ecological and environmentally friendly alternative.

During the event, a manifest was read explaining the purpose of the clothing exchange, and various games focused on the theme of the textile industry and the environment were conducted.

 

20th Anniversary Exhibition

From today until December 18, you can visit the commemorative exhibition marking the 20 years of the Student Recreation Center. Inside, you will discover posters and photographs showcasing various events and activities that have taken place in the building over the course of two decades. Additionally, the exhibition features emblematic items and outstanding artworks from the artistic creation contests held at the Student Recreation Center.

The exhibition will be open from 10:00 to 18:00, Monday to Friday, in the Ximo Mora hall.

 

Blood Donor Day 2023

On the next Wednesday, November 22nd, the Ground Floor of the Student Recreation Center will host the Blood Donor Day, a charitable event organized in collaboration with the Centre de Transfusió de la Comunitat Valenciana. Throughout the day, doors will be open for uninterrupted blood donations from 09:00 to 20:00.

The main purpose of this initiative is to raise awareness among the university community about the shortage of blood in blood banks and underscore the importance of donation to meet critical needs. Currently, 650 units of blood are needed daily to ensure adequate service in Valencia’s hospitals. Your participation can make a difference and save lives. Join us in donating and contributing to this cause!

The event was a success, with a massive turnout of individuals willing to altruistically donate blood, significantly contributing to the cause of saving lives. Blood, a vital resource, is indispensable for the hospitals in the Valencian Community, which rely daily on the generosity of compassionate individuals to keep their reserves stocked, ensuring they are available for those in need of medical assistance.

Mus Tournament

Next Saturday, November 18th, at 4:00 PM, a Mus Tournament, the well-known card game, will take place on the ground floor of the Student Recreation Center.

The tournament is exclusively for UPV students, and a maximum of 32 pairs can participate. Winners will be rewarded with official UPV sweatshirts and T-shirts.

Mistral Training Sessions

On November 10 and 11, the Mistral training sessions were held at the Student Recreation Center, organized by the Student Delegation of the UPV (DAUPV). The purpose of these sessions is to train the future Mistral managers of the centers on how to mediate in the incidents reported through this platform.

The Mistral procedure is the tool provided by the Polytechnic University of Valencia for its students. It allows them to report any incidents related to the educational activities of the institution, aiming to take initiatives to resolve these issues and ensure excellence and quality at the Polytechnic University of Valencia.

Music Sessions EMC

Last Friday, the “Music Sessions 2023” took place at the Student Recreation Center, organized by the contemporary musical ensemble (EMC). Guest artists NAM and Águeda Segrelles showcased their talent to the numerous audience gathered on the ground floor of our building. The event organizers aimed to provide a platform for these emerging artists through the organization of these concerts.

“Building refuge through artivism”

On Thursday, November 2nd, the UNHCR organization held the event “BUILDING REFUGE THROUGH ARTIVISM” on the ground floor of the Student Recreation Center, dedicated to raising awareness about forced displacement and the situation of refugees.

Through workshops, lectures, and exhibitions of artworks related to the theme, they successfully raised awareness among the university community about the importance of supporting those who have had to flee their homes in search of safety. This initiative underscores the need to work together as a global society to create a more inclusive and compassionate world.

Arduino Workshop

On the past Thursday, October 26th, an Arduino initiation workshop was held in the Ximo Mora room of the Student Recreation Center. The event was organized by Makers UPV, a Generación Espontánea group dedicated to creating engineering and electronics projects using various platforms, with Arduino being a notable highlight among them.

During the workshop, participants had the opportunity to delve into the fundamentals of programming and electronics. They were also able to carry out their initial projects using this innovative platform.
