Olympic Robot Challenge

The first preliminary sessions for the grand final of the Olympic Robot Challenge have already begun, the largest robotics competition held at the Polytechnic University of Valencia. In this competition, participants will have to build a robot from scratch to compete in various tests.

This year, the event is supported by major companies such as HP or Power Electronics.

Finally, on Thursday, May 16, the final event of the competition took place, where the participating teams were able to demonstrate their skills. Various circuits and challenges were set up that the different robots built by the students had to overcome to be declared winners of the event.

The competition was broadcast live on the Makers Upv YouTube channel (one of the event organizers). You can watch the broadcast at the following link: click here.

Europe Day

“United in Diversity”

Europe Day, celebrated every 9th of May, commemorates peace and unity in Europe. This date marks the anniversary of the historic Schuman Declaration, in which Schuman outlined his vision for a new form of political cooperation in Europe, making war between European nations unthinkable. Schuman’s proposal is considered the beginning of what is now the European Union.

The Student Recreation Center joins in the celebration of this day by raising the EU flag, decorating the building, and distributing promotional materials. If you’d like to pick up any of these materials, visit the Student Recreation Center information point, and take a photo at the photo booth.

Valencian Climate Assembly

For three consecutive weeks, the Valencian Climate Assembly has taken place at the Ximo Mora Hall of the Student Recreation Center bringing together different young people every Saturday with the aim of discussing and dialoguing about the measures to be implemented to halt the progress of climate change.

The Valencian Climate Assembly gathers over 30 young people aged between 16 and 35 from 16 different municipalities in the Valencian Community. This project aims to provide training in various subjects to these individuals, such as energy, transportation, ecofeminism, agri-food, and society. Subsequently, the assembly members themselves will make a series of proposals on how to mitigate the impact of climate change, proposals that we intend to convey to local, regional, and national political representatives.

This activity is supported by Ayuda en Acción, Las Naves, the Network of Ambassadors of the European Climate Pact, the Youth Council of Valencia, and the Center for Development Cooperation of the Polytechnic University of Valencia, with funding from the GLOCAL program.
