The Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), in the framework of the 50th anniversary of the institution, celebrates, between November 19 and 25, the Week of Gender, Equality and Diversity.

Under the slogan “Be the change, commit yourself to equality”, the Week has begun with the opening, at 13:00, in the room Ximo Mora of the Student’s House (Building 4K), of the exhibition Women imprisoned, which will remain open to the public, and with free access, until next Friday, November 30 (in addition, on the 19th, at 4:30 pm, free guided tour to all those present).

The exhibition Women incarcerated, among many others of the association of women artists Blanco, Negro and Magenta, curated by Concha Mayordomo and with Marina Núñez as a guest artist, has proposed this project from the perspective that art brings, not only the situation of the physical imprisonment, also the many others that would attend to that same concept.

With the works done in a single format, coexist in the same space, in an impossible space temporary coordinates, such relevant figures as Anne Boleyn, Anne Frank, Aung San Suu Kyi, Camille Claudel, Dolores Ibarruri, Dora Maar, Gerda Taro, Emmeline Pankhurst , Farideh Lashai, The Strikers of the Segovia Prison, Hypatia of Alexandria, Indira Gandhi, Juana I of Castile, Joan of Arc, Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz, Juana Rivas, Lidia Falcon, Malala, Marie Antoinette, Mariana Pineda, Maricuela , Mata Hari, Olympe de Gouges, Rosa Park, Sofia Basi, Tomasa Cuevas, The Thirteen Roses, Virginia Wolf, Yoyes and Yayoi Kusama.

All of them are part of a truly amazing group that invites you to take a journey through history, through cultures, through different continents and beliefs; from classical Alexandria to the most recent news of our country.
