From the Student Recreation Center ,we would like to thank the entire university community that participated in the UPV Blood Donor Day, held last Wednesday, November 26th
163 people came forward to donate blood, of which 95 were giving it for the first time.
Blood cannot be manufactured and is needed every day of the year in Valencian hospitals.
Recognizing the work of the student volunteers who were motivating and informing throughout the day.

🧡 Rapid HIV Testing at the Student Recreation Centre
Today, November 21st, 2025, an informative activity will take place at the UPV Student Recreation Centre. An information table will be set up on the north façade of the building, where students can learn about the rapid HIV testing procedure and ask questions related to prevention and early detection.
The activity will run from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with trained staff providing guidance and distributing prevention materials.
Alumni Cooperation Day
On Thursday, November 20th, the first edition of the meeting on cooperation, social commitment, and sustainable development took place at the Casa de l’Alumne.
A gathering with UPV graduates who shared real projects and stories of impact and collaboration, together with the Center for Development Cooperation and UPV Alumni.
An event open to all UPV graduates who believe that the university can also contribute to transforming the world.
Diver-Jornada de Interseccionalidad: Fanzine y Reflexiones
Yesterday, November 13th, the “Diver-Jornadas” on intersectionality organized by the association Diversa, a day in which several talks were held about the environmental impact of the food system, the questioning of the monogamous system, collective environmental actions, and the inclusion of LGTBIQ+ people in physical-sport activities.
These sessions also included food, all vegan, and concluded with a choral musical performance by the EMC association’s ShowChoir.
Womanation Congress 2025 – “Smart Commitment: Alliances That Transform the Digital World”

Hackathon Mercadona IT at the Student Recreation Center
The Student Recreation Center is hosting today, November 10, the Hackathon Mercadona IT, an intensive day in which teams of students from the Universitat Politècnica de València face real technological challenges proposed by Mercadona IT professionals.
The event, organized within the framework of the Cátedra Mercadona IT – UPV, aims to bring students closer to the reality of working in high-level technological environments, promoting teamwork, creativity and problem solving in real contexts.
During 12 hours of uninterrupted activity, the selected teams work arm in arm with professionals from the sector in the Sala Ximo Mora of the Student Recreation Center, competing for various prizes.
The Hackathon is part of the activities promoted by the new Mercadona IT Chair, created in collaboration between Mercadona and the UPV to promote the training of technological talent and the connection between academia and business.
🧩 Hackathon on Cooperativism and Rural Development

Today, the Student Recreation Centre (Casa del Alumno) of the Universitat Politècnica de València hosted the Hackathon on Cooperativism and Rural Development, a full-day event aimed at fostering innovative ideas for sustainable rural development through cooperative models.
The initiative, organized by the Confederació de Cooperatives de la Comunitat Valenciana (Concoval) and the UPV, with the collaboration of the Master’s in Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability (RSC), the Business Management Research Centre (CEGEA) and ETSIAMN, is part of the International Year of Cooperatives.
Throughout the day, participating teams worked on proposals aligned with the Fent Cooperatives 2025-2026 plan, addressing key challenges such as ecological transition, circular economy, and rural depopulation.
From reflection to action: towards sustainable fashion
Today, the activity “From reflection to action: towards sustainable fashion” was held at the Student Center.
The transition from reflection to action in sustainable fashion involves adopting conscious consumption habits, choosing ethical brands, and prioritizing quality over quantity to minimize environmental and social impact. Key actions include applying the “4 Rs” (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Repurpose), opting for secondhand clothing or swapping clothes, and caring for existing garments to extend their lifespan.

With sections devoted to graphic art, literature, gastronomy, and university life, the exhibition offers a broad perspective on the musical renaissance that has grown alongside generations of students at the University of Alicante.

📊 Plenary Meeting of the Data Spaces Support Centre at the Student Recreation Centre
On 4 and 5 November, the Student Recreation Centre hosts the Plenary Meeting of the Data Spaces Support Centre, a European initiative funded by the European Commission under the Digital Europe Programme.
The meeting brings together consortium representatives and digital experts to advance the creation of common data spaces: interoperable, secure, and sovereign environments that foster the responsible exchange of information across sectors, strengthening Europe’s economy and society.
