Europe Day

On 9 May, we celebrate Europe Day, a date that commemorates peace, unity, and cooperation among European countries. This day marks the anniversary of the historic “Schuman Declaration”, presented in 1950, which proposed a new form of political cooperation in Europe that would make war between European nations unthinkable. This initiative became the first step towards the creation of what is now the European Union.

The Student Recreation Centre joins this celebration by raising the EU flag, decorating the building, and distributing commemorative promotional materials.
