🌈 The Student Recreation Centre celebrates LGBTI+ International Pride Day 2026
On the occasion of the LGTBI+ International Pride Day, the Student Recreation Centre of the UPV joins once again in the quest for diversity, equality and respect by organizing a day of activities open to the entire university community.
The building of the Student Recreation Centre has become a space for meeting, visibility and celebration, promoting fundamental values such as inclusion, coexistence and freedom of identity. This initiative is part of the regular schedule of activities promoted by the House, which seeks to encourage active participation of students in relevant social issues.
🏳️🌈 Activities and participation We have carried out various participatory actions, among which were:
- Installation of symbolic elements and decoration with the rainbow flag in different spaces of the building.
- Information and awareness point on affective-sexual and gender diversity.
- Collaborative dynamics and open activities aimed at students.
Participation has been very positive, involving both students and associations and groups linked to university life, reinforcing the open and pluralistic character of the Student Recreatin Centre.
💬 Commitment to equality With this celebration, the Student Recreation Centre reaffirms its commitment to creating safe, inclusive and respectful environments for all people, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity.
This type of initiative helps to consolidate the campus as a space for coexistence where diversity is understood as an enriching value for the entire university community.

International Women’s Day in Engineering
The Casa de l’Estudiant hosts, on June 23, on the occasion of the International Women in Engineering Day, an event that analyses the evolution of women’s presence in this field and its future challenges.
The event, held at the Casa de l’Estudiant, features an institutional welcome by Silvia Terrasa, M. Esther Gómez-Martín and Davinia Bono, followed by a keynote talk by Regina Monsalve Mayáns on the current situation of engineering in Spain.
The event also includes a roundtable with professionals from UPV and organisations such as Veolia, Autoliv and the Júcar River Basin Authority, and concludes with a networking session.
XVIII Meeting on Development Cooperation Projects and Internships
The Universitat Politècnica de València held the 18th Meeting on Development Cooperation Projects and Internships this Friday, May 22, at the Ximo Mora Hall of the UPV Student Recreation Centre. The event brought together students, lecturers, technical staff and NGOs to share experiences related to international cooperation and the defence of human rights. The programme included presentations of several initiatives under the slogan “UPV cooperates”, as well as a social gathering with music for attendees.
UPV Open 2026 Rubik Speedcubing
The Casa de l’Estudiant of the Universitat Politècnica de València hosted the UPV Open 2026 on 23 and 24 May, an official speedcubing competition organised by the Spanish Speedcubing Association (AES) and the World Cube Association (WCA).
The event brought together competitors from different parts of Spain, who took part in several official events for solving the Rubik’s Cube and other WCA-recognised puzzles. The competition was held at the Casa del Alumne, further establishing the UPV as a venue for activities promoted by student associations and open to the wider community
Korean Culture
Last Saturday, May 16 was celebrated in the Casa de l’Estudiant of the Universitat Politècnica de València the Day of Korean Culture, organized by the Korean School Turia of Valencia. The activity took place in the Sala Ximo Mora and brought together students, families and members of the Korean community in a meeting marked by coexistence, cultural exchange and active participation. The day was run normally and with high attendance, consolidating as a space for dissemination and approach to Korean culture in the university environment.
From the organization they wanted to convey their thanks to the UPV for the cession of space and for the support provided before and during the event. They also stressed the importance of having an adequate space to carry out this type of initiative, which has been very well received among the participants. With these initiatives, the UPV expresses its willingness to collaborate with activities related to multiculturalism, diversity and cultural diffusion in the university.
DO YOU KNOW HOW TO WORK IN A TEAM? PROVE IT AT TALENTCID DAY
The Ximo Mora Hall at the Student Recreation Centre of the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) hosted a new edition of Talentcid Day by Torrecid, an event aimed at university students to test their teamwork abilities and soft skills.
The event offered 80 spots for UPV students, who took part in five challenges with live rankings and personalized feedback. Participants also enjoyed catering during the afternoon, and every attendee received a guaranteed prize.
The initiative, organized together with UPV student associations, aims to promote skills such as leadership, communication, and collaboration in a dynamic and participatory environment.
Awareness Activity on HIV by AVACOS
Exhibition “Tejer Conciencia”
The Student Recreation Centre at the Universitat Politècnica de València is hosting the exhibition Tejer Conciencia from May 11 to 22, a project focused on feminism, social justice, and sustainability through textile art and the reuse of materials. The exhibition presents a collective and constantly evolving process that highlights the value of textile practices and shared memory.
The programme includes a talk by Irene Aparicio on May 11 at 5:00 p.m., the workshops “Mend and Resist” on May 12 and 14 at 4:30 p.m., and the crochet workshop “Point to Point” on May 18 at 6:00 p.m.
Europe Day
On 9 May, we celebrate Europe Day, a date that commemorates peace, unity, and cooperation among European countries. This day marks the anniversary of the historic “Schuman Declaration”, presented in 1950, which proposed a new form of political cooperation in Europe that would make war between European nations unthinkable. This initiative became the first step towards the creation of what is now the European Union.
The Student Recreation Centre joins this celebration by raising the EU flag, decorating the building, and distributing commemorative promotional materials.

HACKATON DREAM BIG 2026
The Hackaton Dream BIG 2026, an activity focused on innovation and sustainable entrepreneurship, has been held from 3:00 to 6:00 pm in the Ximo Mora hall of the
Student Recreation Centre, on the campus of Vera.
During the session, students have worked together to devise solutions to current challenges and present their proposals before a jury, fostering creativity
and entrepreneurial talent.
